Updates - Order from the PA Supreme Court re: closures
On April 28th, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued an updated Emergency Order regarding the statewide judicial emergency currently in place. The Order extends the emergency through June 1, 2020 (previously set to end on April 30, 2020). The salient parts of the Order are as follows:

In response to the Rhode Island Governor’s Executive Orders declaring a state of emergency in Rhode Island due to the Covid-19 virus, the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations, Banking Division has issued Banking Bulletin Number 2020-5: Mediation Compliance during the Covid-19 Emergency. Pursuant to the CARES Act, which expands the availability of forbearance options, Banking Bulletin 2020-5 allows for mediation notices, pursuant to RIGL 34-27-3.2, to be sent 120 days after the date on which a forbearance agreement terminates.

Massachusetts Moratorium on Evictions and Foreclosures (Act of 2020 Ch. 65)
On April 20, 2020, Governor Baker signed into law “An Act providing for a moratorium on evictions and foreclosures during the COVID-19 Emergency” (hereinafter the "Act".) The new law puts a temporary moratorium on non-essential evictions of residential and small business tenants. For residential mortgages, the law places a temporary restriction on foreclosures and requires temporary loan forbearance. Specifically:

Korde & Associates: MA Foreclosure and Eviction Moratorium
In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, on April 17, 2020, the Massachusetts legislature passed House Bill 4647, imposing a 120-day moratorium on evictions and foreclosures, subject to an exception for vacant and abandoned property and was signed by the Governor on April 20, 2020 (the “Act”). The Act also imposes specific forbearance requirements on mortgagees, related to requests from borrowers facing economic hardship as a result of COVID-19.
